Memorizing Scripture This Year!
As we step into 2025, we’re excited to invite you on a journey that could shape your faith, deepen your understanding of God’s Word, and help you grow in your relationship with Him. This year, one of our goals as a church is to memorize Scripture together—and we’d love for you to join us!
Why Memorize Scripture?
Psalm 119:11 says, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Memorizing Scripture is more than an exercise in memory; it’s about embedding God’s truth deep within us so it can guide our thoughts, transform our hearts, and anchor us in every season of life. Whether you’re celebrating or facing challenges, God’s Word provides the wisdom, comfort, and direction we need.
The 2025 Bible Memorization Plan
To make this goal both meaningful and achievable, we’ve put together a plan that takes you through one key verse or passage from every book of the Bible—67 in total! You can choose one of two approaches:
Memorize one verse per week.
Memorize all 67 verses over the course of the year.
We’ve even created a helpful spreadsheet that lays out the schedule, complete with the verses and a bit of context to help you reflect on each one. You can download the spreadsheet and follow along at your own pace.
Let’s Do This Together
There’s something special about walking through this journey with others. Memorizing Scripture isn’t just a personal goal; it’s a way to strengthen our community and encourage one another. Feel free to reach out to others in the church and ask about their “verse of the week.” Let’s keep each other accountable, share what we’re learning, and celebrate the joy of hiding God’s Word in our hearts.
If you see one of our team members on Sunday, don’t hesitate to ask what verse they’re working on—we’d love to share and hear yours too!
Tips for Memorization
Repetition is key. Write the verse out by hand, say it aloud, or set it as a daily reminder on your phone.
Pray through the verse. As you memorize, ask God to help you understand and apply it to your life.
Use creative tools. Flashcards, apps, or even sticky notes around your home can help reinforce your memory.
Share what you’re learning. Teaching someone else or talking about a verse with a friend can help you retain it even better.
Memorizing Scripture may seem daunting, but remember that it’s about progress, not perfection. Each verse you commit to memory brings you one step closer to knowing God’s Word more deeply and allowing it to shape your life.
Let’s make 2025 a year of transformation through the power of God’s Word. We’re in this together—one verse at a time!
